For this third edition of Meet the Staff, we are getting to know Nick Rossetti, the new Manhattan Site Manager. He is responsible for overseeing Mobile Health’s Manhattan medical center’s day to day operations. Born in south Brooklyn, Nick was raised in Orange County, NY where he graduated from Pine Bush High School. While in High School Nick attended a work study program at the United States Military Academy and attributes this as an inspiration for his enlistment into the United States Air Force shortly after high school.

While serving at the Air Force for four years, Nick worked as a medic in the labor and delivery division in an Air Force Base in North Carolina. Ironically, Nick never had much interest in a medical profession until his time with the Air Force. Throughout high school, he concerned himself mostly with business and information technology sciences. Although his position didn’t lead to much flight time, he truly appreciated the education and introduction to the medical world and the rewards of helping people.

Following his time in North Carolina, Nick returned to civilian life and enrolled in Orange County Community College for an Associates in Nursing, becoming a certified Registered Nurse. After graduating, Nick returned to New York City and worked in St. Vincent’s Hospital’s Emergency Room in the Village. At the ER, Nick was exposed to various degrees of patient injuries and conditions. He quickly learned to think fast, pay attention to prognosis details, and manage multiple patients with complex medical conditions. He contributed 10 years at St. Vincent’s ER eventually becoming the Head Nurse of Emergency Services much of which overlapped with NYC’s own challenging AIDS epidemic.

Looking to complement his new skills with an education advancement, Nick continued his studies while employed at St Vincent’s and obtained his Bachelors in Nursing from Pace University. After graduating, Nick joined Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) as a Patient Coordinator. As a coordinator, Nick was able to apply the attention to care he learned at the ER to individual patients at their home.

After a short time at VNS, Nick was provided the opportunity to join a fellow home health agency, Village Care (VC), while pursuing his Graduate degree in Nursing at Pace University. At VC, Nick spearheaded their new employee health services department to provide health services to VC’s own employees. This new administrative position was new to him, but the creative freedom allowed Nick to develop an efficient program to provide the right care for VC’s employees. On occasions, Nick would revert back to his provider role and actively assist in helping the patients. In those 10 years at VC’s employee health department, Nick came to learn about Mobile Health and used our services for specialty exams such as chest x-rays.

Soon Nick left the employee health department to be the administrator for VC’s own primary care department. Seeking a different professional path, Nick left VC four years later after a 21 year period with them. VC’s employee health department would soon close 6 months later.

Still looking for the right career opportunity, Nick accepted a position with Mobile Health to eventually become Manhattan’s Site Manager.

In Manhattan, Nick appreciates the diverse medical positions he gets to work with and the new exams Mobile Health performs that VC did not. These differences are welcomed as new learning opportunities. At the same time, Nick recognizes Mobile Health’s own areas for improvement and brings over 30 years of medical experiences to the Manhattan medical center.
