(PRWEB) February 21, 2014 – Mobile Health recently added certified medical examiners to their Manhattan, Queens, and Hempstead locations to accommodate the increase of DOT exams and drug tests by local employers. With seven examiners, Mobile Health maintains the largest network of certified medical examiners on the FMCSA National Registry in New York City and Long Island. Mobile Health DOT examiners are also available for on-site and remote examinations.
The rapid 350% expansion (since 2013) of medical examiners come as Mobile Health works to meet a FMCSA deadline of 5/21/14 when all DOT exams must be performed by a certified medical examiner. Previously, any private doctor was able to perform the exam without any prior specific training or certification. As part of this new regulation, a National Registry will maintain a database of all certified medical examiners.
All employers who fall under DOT regulations must maintain a compliant workforce with pre-employment and annual DOT exams. With their citywide network, employers can send employees to any Mobile Health medical center for consistent and certified examinations, and always receive online reporting through the Mobile Health client portal. The client portal also allows for scheduling appointments and retrieving results all through one website.
The new FMCSA changes come from a special focus in the health and wellbeing of truck drivers. A NIOSH study found that 88% of truck drivers reported at least one health risk such as hypertension, smoking, and obesity. These risks not only contribute to personal health complications, but also could contribute to unsafe driving habits on the road.
